In the boys’ contest, St. Anthony’s defeated Chaminade 12-10 to capture both the state and diocesan CHSAA Class AAA championships May 26 at Hofstra. The titles were the third straight for the Friars (14-3), who beat the Flyers (15-3) in the finals all three years. The victory also avenged St. Anthony’s two losses to Chaminade during the regular season. Raffa, the game MVP, returned to action after recovering from a broken jaw, concussion and split nose. Matt Kavanagh scored four goals for Chaminade. In the CHSAA Class AA championship, Holy Trinity downed St. John the Baptist 14-7 as Pat Candon had four goals and two assists for the Titans. The Holy Trinity offense also received contributions from Robbie Zecher (three goals) and Nick Olson (two goals, two assists).
