BRENTWOOD — Sister Clare Cecilia Rapp, 73, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, died Jan. 6 in the 55th year of her religious life.
She entered the congregation from Our Holy Redeemer Parish in Freeport. After earning a BS degree in education from Brentwood College and one in music education from Nazareth College, she pursued an MS in music education in Potsdam and one in Latin from Mount St. Vincent.
Her ministries were mainly in the Brooklyn Diocese, namely: Mary’s Nativity, Flushing (1961-69); St. Agnes Seminary High School, (1969-73); Bishop Kearney High School, (1973-81, 1990-97); Fontbonne Hall Academy High School, (1981-85); as assistant principal at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bay Ridge (1985-90); and St. Joseph High School (1997-2011) where she was academic counselor and later assistant principal.
Her Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Francis Xavier Church, Brooklyn, on Jan. 9, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery here.
