Pope Benedict XVI and two Italian school children released doves as a symbol of peace during the Sunday Angelus at the Vatican on Jan. 29. Before the Angelus, some 2,000 children between the ages of four and 14 walked in procession to St. Peter’s Square carrying homemade banners calling for peace in the world and peace within their families and schools. The pope exclaimed “Mamma mia,” as one dove flew over his head and back into his apartment. See From the Pope.
