Knights of Columbus help seminarians and novices

The St. Therese the Little Flower Council 2622 Knights of Columbus of Valley Stream recently continued their tradition of supporting religious vocations by giving educational grants to two diocesan seminarians and two novices for the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The council gives four $1,000 grants annually to help seminarians and novices pay for tuitions, books, car insurance and maintenance, and emergency expenses. They also provide moral support, according to Patrick Prunty, the Council’s vocations chairman, through prayer and by inviting the students to various events.

The Knights of Columbus program, called RSVP (Refund Support Vocations Program), helps students all over the country through individual councils. Immaculate Conception Seminary students Dominick Avento of St. Francis Cabrini, Coram, and Frank Zero, of St. Edward’s parish, Syosset, will receive this year’s grants.
