Rockville Centre — A packed
St. Agnes Cathedral joined Bishop William Murphy
last Friday night in paying tribute to honorees from
every parish in the diocese who were to receive the
St. Agnes Medal of Service.

Eastport — Fists pumping, the crowd of teens pressed
close to the band, jumping in unison to the beat of the
music and singing along, not to the latest angst-filled rock
anthem, but to a hymn of praise with the lyrics, “God is
faithful. His love endures forever.”

Bishop calls for prayers, fasting
throughout Respect Life Month
|
|
Noting that Respect Life Month this October coincides with a
nationwide grass roots “40 Days for Life” campaign that
begins Sept. 26, Bishop William Murphy is urging parishes
and individual Catholics throughout Long Island to take part
in prayer and fasting activities, as well as giving peaceful
public witness if so moved, as part of the diocese’s
observance of Respect Life Month.

of Ministry to Catholics of African Ancestry sponsored a
Youth Rally at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in
Roosevelt. The rally was organized by Darcel Whitten-Wilamoski,
director of the African ancestry office.

Center Sept. 13. Marianist Father James Williams,

musician performs concert in Patchogue
John Michael Talbot performed in concert Sept. 10 at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Patchogue. The concert was
part of a national tour marking the release of his 50th
album, “Living Water.”
Talbot is the founder of Brothers and Sisters of
Charity, a monastic community based in the Ozark
mountains of Arkansas. He previously performed at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel in 1989. |
