Rick Hinshaw, editor, is a columnist and former news editor of The Long Island Catholic.  From 2000 - 2004 he was Public Information Officer for Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon.  Prior to that, Rick served as Associate Director for Communications of the New York State Catholic Conference; Director of Communications for the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights; and Director of the Office of Family Ministry for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.  For several years he also co-hosted “The Catholic Forum,” a weekly cable television show on the diocesan Telecare channel.
Rick holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science from the C.W. Post College of Long Island University.  He has taught Political Science at C.W. Post and Dowling Colleges, and is a member of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists.
He, his wife Eileen and their three children live in Lynbrook, and are parishioners of St. Raymond’s Church, East Rockaway – where Rick is also a member of the Msgr. Walsh-St. Raymond’s Council of the Knights of Columbus.
  Reporter Mary Iapalucci joined the staff of TLIC in November, 2007, after a nine-year stint working for The Catholic Press Association of the U.S. and Canada, where she edited the association’s newspaper. A native of Queens, Mary graduated from New York University with a degree in journalism and worked at a number of publications, including The Tablet, newspaper of the Brooklyn Diocese. Mary and her husband Ken have two children and are members of St. Jude parish, Mastic Beach.
News editor Peggy Clausen is a national award-winning reporter and former associate editor for Newsweek. Her freelance credits include writing and editing for a wide range of publications. She previously taught journalism and communications at Fordham University. She grew up in Queens and has lived in the Rockville Centre diocese for 17 years. She graduated from The Mary Louis Academy, was named to Phi Beta Kappa at Fordham University, and holds an M.A. from New York University.
Pete Sheehan is senior reporter for The Long Island Catholic. A 1978 graduate of John Carroll University near Cleveland, Ohio, he worked first at the Niles Daily Times and later the Youngstown Catholic Exponent before coming to TLIC in 1986. He has been published in various national Catholic newspapers as well as other publications.
Reporter Mary Gorry grew up in Freeport, Long Island, where she still resides. She graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 2001 with a B.A. in communications and media studies. A member of the editorial board of her college newspaper for four years, she joined The Long Island Catholic in October of 2003.
Photojournalist Greg Shemitz has been covering diocesan events for The Long Island Catholic since September 2000. He is a member of the Catholic Press Association and the New York Press Photographers Association. Greg joined the paper as a freelance contributor and was promoted to staff photographer in April 2003. His photos have also appeared on the Catholic News Service wire and in Newsday. He is a graduate of Cathedral Prep Seminary and St. John’s University.
